The painting on the right is Maura's engagement  gift from her Fiancé , John Patron. and painted by Robert Currie in 1956 when Maura was aged 17 years old.

In the 1950's Society's expectation of women (and most women's aspiration for the themselves) was to marry and have children.  So Maura Erskine's decision to marry while still a teenager as opposed to developing a career was the normal thing to do for many women of that period. Maura had five boys prior to restarting her musical career in the 1970's.
